The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) announced that the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Swenson Engineering Building project has been named a Top Ten project. This prestigious Award goes to the Top Ten projects around the country that use a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems and technology. Dunham worked with Ross Barney Architects to complete the project—a 34,000 SF two-story building that consists of a hydraulics lab, structural lab, materials testing lab, wood/metal shop, offices, gather space and classrooms. The sustainable components of this building include high-efficiency lighting and lighting controls, variable flow heating and cooling systems, displacement ventilation, air side energy recover, low-flow high-efficiency water closets, and storm water collection. Additionally, the project was awarded a LEED Gold certification from the United State Green Building Council (USGBC)
