Over the past 25 years, Dunham has provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for over 400 projects on the M Health Fairview medical campus. The projects range from studies and master plans to renovations and infrastructure upgrades in nearly every facility located on both Riverside and University campus.

East and West Bank Infrastructure Upgrades

We have been part of numerous major infrastructure improvement projects on both the east and west bank campuses. All of these projects require extensive knowledge of the facilities and their mechanical and electrical systems. They also require dedicated engineering staff and a high level of project supervision maintained during construction to minimize service outages to the hospital and ensure a limited impact on patients.

Within the last six years, Dunham has been part of six major air handler replacements and upgrades totaling 236,000 cfm. Projects included new air handlers interwoven into tight existing mechanical spaces, unit replacements, and full unit restorations. Unit upgrades included fan arrays, heating/cooling coils, filters, casings, and controls. The air handlers upgraded served some of the most critical areas of the hospitals, including Surgery, PACU, ICU, BMT, Sterile Processing, Imaging, and Cath Lab. In addition to equipment specification and layout, Dunham worked with a project team of designers, contractors, facility staff, and clinical staff on disruption avoidance, including infection control, phasing, department scheduling, temporary equipment, and system cross-connects to keep the hospital operational. In a non-healthcare setting, these unit upgrades would typically take weeks to months, but due to the critical areas served, projects were completed in as short as a weekend. With careful planning and phasing, all projects were completed successfully with minimal impact to facility operation.
