Consulting Specifying Engineer has named the newly completed Great River Energy Headquarters project the Gold Award for the 2008 Arc Awards. Dunham worked with Perkins+Will Architects and McGough Construction to complete the project, which earned a LEED Platinum Certification—the highest honor for sustainable green building construction—by incorporating nearby Arbor Lake as a geothermal heating and cooling source. Other sustainable strategies include utilizing thermal displacement ventilation, extensive daylight harvesting, rainwater retention, photovoltaic array, and a wind turbine to reduce its carbon footprint.
